Purpose:
A practical, evidence-informed workshop for vocational educators who want to strengthen learner experience, progress and success.
Educator Excellence Through Belief and Practice introduces educators to the beliefs that shape their expectations, decisions, teaching, assessment and learner support. Informed by John Hattie’s Visible Learning emphasis on educators evaluating their impact, the workshop moves beyond professional intention to examine what learners actually see, hear, experience and achieve.
Using the Austin & Co Educator Belief Card Deck and a comprehensive participant workbook, educators will reflect on their professional identity, explore research-informed VET pedagogy and consider learning through the eyes of their learners. Structured activities, evidence-based reflection and peer coaching conversations help participants identify strengths, test assumptions and connect educator belief with observable practice.
Participants will apply their insights by redesigning one aspect of teaching, assessment or learner support. They will leave with a focused 30-day professional growth plan that identifies:
the practice they will strengthen or change;
the learner need or opportunity being addressed;
the evidence they will gather;
the intended indicators of success; and
how they will evaluate, refine and sustain the improvement.
